TurboScan Launches Free Version of App
Available For iOS Devices and Allows Up to Five Scans

One of the most successful business applications has launched a free version specifically for iOS.
For the past number of years, TurboScan has proven itself a valuable tool for businesses. It gives users the ability to scan and save documents using their iPhone and the documents are easily saved and accessible once scanned.
However, the app has always comes with a small price of $2.99. Until now, that is.
The company behind the app, Piksoft Inc., announced Thursday it has launched a free version of the app which is available both on the Apple Store and the Google Play store.
“TurboScan is one of the highest rated apps in the App Store with 16,000 users giving it five stars,” stated TurboScan marketing director Tania Sulimov in a company press release.
“We found the reason that over three million users continue to use TurboScan is due to its intuitiveness and ease-of-use. We are excited to bring a free version to the app store for new users to give us a go.”
The free version, the company explained, is loaded with the same features as the previous incarnation.
Unlike other document saving business apps, the company stated, users can capture documents with the SureScan 3x mode or from saved albums, and store them in high-quality color or black and white. TurboScan also features an “E-mail to Myself” option allowing users to easily share. This option has the ability to convert all scans into PDFs, JPEGs or PNGs without losing quality.
The free version enablers users to scan and save up to five documents.

How to use:
Turboscan For Mac Computers
- After you launch the app, click the camera icon on the bottom left to start scanning.
- Center the page you want to scan and click the big white button at the bottom to scan the page. I typically leave the flash on unless it affects the quality of the scan (see bottom left button to turn on/off).
- The next screenshot below shows a preview of what the file is going to look like. Let’s say for whatever reason the camera didn’t frame the shot well and you need to reset the borders. Click the word Frame on the top left to adjust things.
- Now, I just move the red dots until it’s framed perfectly. After that, click done.
- After I hit done it shows me a new preview of my document. I can also choose different contrast levels by picking the different shades of black. (See picture on step 3).
- Then, hit next and you’ll see this screen. The first thing I do at this point is change the name of the document by clicking the pencil icon at the bottom.
- I then put in whatever title works best for this particular file. I also uncheck the box that says “add date stamp.” I’m not a fan of that feature but could see how it would be useful. After hitting done it takes me back to the screen from step 6.
- At this point I can click the bottom right icon to add more pages to this document (helpful for scanning music). Or, I can send it off (by clicking the box with an up arrow on the bottom left) via email or my cloud storage provider of choice (I love Dropbox. Look for a future post detailing why).
What Do I Use TurboScan for:

- Scan private lesson sheets and send to Dropbox and email to Music Office. I literally do this every day.
- Scan music and send to Dropbox to create a reference library. This allows me to view music on my device of choice instead of going to the actual library to see it. Time-saver and it allows me to stay home when I would normally need to go to work to do such a thing.
- Scan music to send to accompanists.
- Scan music and send to Dropbox so I can share it (via a link) during Solo and Ensemble time. I haven’t copied music for S&E in over 5 years. Huge time saver.
- Scan adjudication sheets and send to Dropbox to clear up space in the office. I haven’t started doing this yet (technically) but I thought of it while writing this post. What a way to clear space in the office.
- Scan Booster Club treasurer reports and agendas and send to Dropbox.
